The Greyhound is a tall, brave and Intelligent It looks charming and loving, its character is often undervalued because of its reserved behaviour toward strangers and even its master. Greyhounds are sensitive to the tone of one's voice and will not listen if they sense that they are stronger minded than their owner, however they will also not respond well to harsh discipline. Owners need to be calm, yet possess an air of natural authority.
One of the most ancient of breeds, Greyhounds probably originated in Egypt and have been prized throughout history.This breed is very sensitive, timid and can be reserved around strangers. Indoors, the dog is very placid, quiet, and well-mannered, but while outdoors, it will chase anything small that moves. The Greyhound will also generally behave well with other pets and dogs it has grown up with.
Greyhounds have a reputation for high energy levels, but in reality their favourite pastime is sleeping. Designed as sprinters, not distance runners, they'll be satisfied with a daily walk, although active people find they make good jogging or running partners. In fact, Greyhounds do fine in apartments or homes with small yards--although they need a solid fence to keep them from chasing animals they might see as prey, such as squirrels, rabbits, or trespassing cats.
